About Belsen Was a Gas : The song is about one of the Nazi concentration camps in Nazi Germany . Bergen-Belsen, which was liberated by British troops in 1945 . Sid Vicious is generally accepted to have written the song while in his earlier band the Flowers of Romance . Its title is a pun on Zyklon B gas used in many camps . The song's darkly humorous lyrics were intended to irritate the generation the group believed were responsible for many of the political and social problems in Britain . Later, Lydon said that he felt that this song crossed the line into gratuitous bad taste . The track has an affiliation to the band(s) - Sex Pistols.

About Sex Pistols : The Sex Pistols formed in London in 1975 . They were responsible for initiating the punk movement in the United Kingdom . They produced only four singles and one studio album . The Sex Pistols originally comprised vocalist Johnny Rotten (John Lydon), guitarist Steve Jones, drummer Paul Cook and bassist Glen Matlock . Matlock was replaced by Sid Vicious in early 1977 Vicious died of a heroin overdose in February 1979, following his arrest for the alleged murder of his girlfriend . Over the next few months, the remaining band members recorded songs for McLaren's film version of the Sex Pistols' story, The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle . Their most notable albums include Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols. Their music is influenced by genres - punk rock.
