About The Little Drummer Boy : "The Little Drummer Boy" was written by Katherine Kennicott Davis in 1941 . The song was first recorded in 1951 by the Trapp Family Singers . Harry Simeone Chorale's version was re-released successfully for several years . The singer recalls how he was summoned by the Magi to the Nativity of Jesus . Without a gift for the Infant, the little drummer boy played his drum with approval from Jesus' mother, Mary . The song was originally published by Davis based upon a traditional Czech song . Davis's manuscript is set as a chorale, in which the tune is in the soprano melody with alto harmony, tenor and bass parts producing the "drum rhythm" It was released in 1958. The genre is christmas pop. The track was release in 1958.

He co-wrote "The Little Drummer Boy" Simeone was born in Newark, New Jersey, United States . He grew up listening to stars performing at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City . He was offered work at CBS as an arranger for bandleader Fred Waring . Simeone had various music production jobs for several Paramount films . He had various roles for several films between 1939 and 1946 . He was married to his wife, Margaret McCravy, who sang with Benny Goodman's orchestra .
