About Anton Bruckner - Josef Anton Bruckner (1824-09-04) was an Austrian composer, organist, and music theorist . His symphonies, masses, Te Deum and motets are emblematic of the final stage of Austro-German Unlike other musical radicals, Bruckner showed extreme humility before other musicians, Wagner in particular . Hans von Bülow described him as "half genius, half simpleton". Bruckner's symphonies had detractors, most notably the influential Austrian critic Eduard Hanslick and other supporters of Johannes Brahms .
