About Heart and Soul (Joy Division album) : The first two discs contain almost their entire studio output . Discs three and four collect rare demos and live recordings, many of which were previously unreleased . It reached #70 in the UK . About Joy Division : Joy Division formed in Salford in 1976 . The group consisted of Ian Curtis, Bernard Sumner, Peter Hook and Stephen Morris Joy Division formed the band after attending a Sex Pistols concert . Their self-released EP An Ideal for Living drew the attention of Manchester TV personality Tony Wilson . Tony Wilson signed the band to Factory Records . Curtis killed himself on the eve of the band's first US/Canada tour in May 1980, aged 23 . He suffered from personal problems including a failing marriage, depression, and epilepsy . Joy Division The group has many notable artists like Ian Curtis,Bernard Sumner,Peter Hook,Stephen Morris. Their music is influenced by genres - post-punk gothic rock.
