Weiland states that his then brother-in-law introduced him to Blair Lamb, who co-produced 12 Bar The album was not a commercial success, but achieved some critical acclaim . Allmusic gave the album 4 out of 5 stars, declaring that Weiland was the visionary behind STP's sound . It had a contribution from notable artists like Scott Weiland. It had an affiliation to bands - 12 Bar Blues. Its music is influenced by genres - alternative rock , neo-psychedelia.
